Houjicha is roasted green tea from Japan. When ground like this it can be prepared as you would a matcha. The difference is in its lower caffeine content and compeletaly different aromas and flavours.

Method
There are multiple ways of making houjicha. The more traditional method is recomended.
Measure up your houjicha powder, this is made easy with the bamboo measuring spoon.
Sift the matcha through a matcha sieve to break up any lumps above the bowl or cup you are using.
Add a tiny bit of cold water first and whisk using the chasen (bamboo matcha whisk) until the powder has evenly mixed with the water. By adding the cold water first you are readying the tea for the hot water. This can decrese the chance of burning the tea with hot water.
Add water tempered at 70-80 degrees celsius and continue whisking until you see an even layer of foam on top.
Now you can choose to enjoy it as is, add sweetening, milk, icecubes, tonic or sirups.
Enjoy!
